TORONTO, Ont., Canada – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing drivers took turns picking up their first Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda wins during last weekend’s Allied Building Products Grand Prix of Toronto.  American Jake Eidson won Race One, and Frenchman Florian Latorre took the checkered flag in Race Two. The duo also each took home a second-place finish.

The race weekend was marred by inclement weather. Race One, which was postponed until Sunday morning, had Latorre starting first and Eidson third on a still wet track. After a yellow flag on the first lap, the duo battled each other and developed a seven-second lead on the field. Eidson kept the pressure on Latorre and made his move on Lap 14 in Turn One when Latorre ran wide. Eidson went on to take his first win of the year for him and the team, while Latorre had to settle for second.

Race Two was held Sunday afternoon with much better weather. Latorre again started from pole and Eidson third. After Latorre fell to second on the opening lap a torrid battle ensued with the top-three drivers covered by a second. The Cape duo went by the leading Team E Racing driver when he abruptly slowed on the track. Another caution brought all the leaders together, and a two-lap dash ended the race with Latorre holding off Eidson for his first win.

Rookie Keyvan Andres Soori had a rough weekend with an early incident taking out the German driver in the opening lap in Race One. The young driver rebounded nicely in Race Two. He started 18th and worked his way to 13th.

With their strong results, the two now stand 1-2 in the driver point standings, with Latorre leading Eidson by only 15 points. The team has a commanding 93-point lead.

Cape Motorsports and its trio of drivers will next be on track August 2-3 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. For more information, visit www.usf2000.com. You can follow the team on Facebook and Twitter (CMwithWTR) for updates.
